Bifen IT Mixing Calculator: Per Gallon & Lawn Rates

Bifen I/T contains 7.9% bifenthrin, but its label does not use one universal "ounces per gallon" rate for every job. Outdoor surface/perimeter directions use 0.02% to 0.06% finished suspensions (0.33 to 1.0 fl oz per gallon in the label's mixing table), while lawn and ornamental applications are selected by fluid ounces per 1,000 sq ft. Choose the mode that matches the label section for your target pest and site.

Use the current label, not a generic "severity" setting. Lawn rates are pest-specific, ornamental rates have their own table, and the label's 0.12% termite mixture is limited to specialized termiticide situations. This calculator scales a rate you select from the label; it does not choose the legal rate for you.

Bifen IT rates: per gallon vs per 1,000 sq ft

For pest control on outside surfaces and around buildings, the current specimen label lists a 0.02% suspension at 0.33 fl oz per gallon and a 0.06% suspension at 1.0 fl oz per gallon. Perimeter treatment also has an area-based table because the amount of product per 1,000 sq ft can be held constant while spray volume changes.

For lawns, rates are pest-specific. The lawn table begins at 0.18–0.25 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft for some listed pests, includes 0.25–0.5 and 0.5–1.0 ranges for others, and permits up to 1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft under the label directions. Ornamentals and trees use a separate 0.125–1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft range. That is why the calculator asks you to select a label rate instead of inferring one from "light," "standard," or "heavy" severity.

Lawn carrier volume is also conditional: the label allows higher spray volumes for dense foliage and gives specific irrigation instructions for certain low-volume subsurface-pest treatments. This calculator therefore reports product quantity by area but does not invent a universal water volume.

What Bifen IT is — and key label restrictions

Control Solutions lists Bifen I/T as a 7.9% bifenthrin insecticide/termiticide (EPA Reg. No. 53883-118) for structural, turf, ornamental, and other labeled sites. The specimen label is the controlling source for mixing, PPE, use sites, and application restrictions.

Subterranean-termite directions use 0.06% as the standard emulsion; the 0.12% / 2 fl oz-per-gallon mixture is limited to specialized termiticide situations described on the label.

How much Bifen IT do I use per 1,000 sq ft of lawn?

The current lawn table is pest-specific rather than one universal rate. Listed lawn ranges include 0.18–0.25, 0.25–0.5, and 0.5–1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft, depending on the pest, with additional label notes and a maximum of 1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft. Ornamentals use a separate 0.125–1.0 range.

How much area does a quart of Bifen IT cover?

Coverage depends on the label rate and site. A 32 fl oz quart contains enough product for about 32,000 sq ft at 1.0 fl oz/1,000 sq ft or about 178,000 sq ft at 0.18 fl oz/1,000 sq ft. The ornamental minimum of 0.125 fl oz/1,000 sq ft would mathematically extend to 256,000 sq ft, but only use a rate that is actually listed for the target pest and site.

Can I use Bifen IT indoors and around pets?

The label includes specified indoor spot, crack-and-crevice, and other targeted uses, but prohibits broadcast application to interior home surfaces. It also says not to apply the product directly to pets and not to allow people or pets to contact treated surfaces before the spray has dried. Follow the current label for the exact site and treatment method.
