EarthWay 2150 & 2600A-Plus Spreader Settings

The EarthWay 2150 and 2600A-Plus both use fixed three-hole drop/shut-off systems. Neither model uses interchangeable FLEX-SELECT output trays. EarthWay publishes model-specific resources for each spreader, and the current 2150 Rate Settings guide confirms that its 1–10 lb/1,000 sq ft matrix uses the same setting sequence as the published 2600A-Plus guidance.

Important model distinction: if you see red, black, blue, or Dual Port output-tray guidance, that belongs to compatible FLEX-SELECT F-Series spreaders such as the F80. Do not apply F80 tray instructions to a 2150 or 2600A-Plus.

2150 / 2600A-Plus Starting-Setting Finder

Enter the labeled application rate. EarthWay's current 2150 Rate Settings guide and the published 2600A-Plus guidance use the same settings for the 1–10 lb/1,000 sq ft rows shown below.

How EarthWay's 2150 rate guide works

EarthWay's current 2150 Rate Settings guide uses a two-step process. First, determine the product's application rate in lbs per 1,000 sq ft from the bag weight and labeled coverage. Then match that rate to the setting matrix. The guide's example is a 20 lb bag covering 10,000 sq ft: that equals 2.0 lbs per 1,000 sq ft, which maps to setting 13.

The 2150 matrix lists settings from 11 at 1 lb/1,000 sq ft through 23 at 10 lb/1,000 sq ft. Those ten rows match the published 2600A-Plus rate guidance, so the finder on this page can now serve both models for that published range without inventing a cross-model conversion.

This does not make the two spreaders mechanically identical. Use each model's own manual for setup, Side Spread Control, maintenance, and calibration. The 2150 manual also specifies a mechanical check: with the rate control at 30, the shut-off plate should be fully open.

2150 / 2600A-Plus vs. FLEX-SELECT F-Series

The 2150 and 2600A-Plus use fixed three-hole output systems. Their Side Spread Control changes the spread pattern near borders; it is not an interchangeable output tray.

Compatible FLEX-SELECT F-Series spreaders such as the F80 are different. EarthWay lists interchangeable standard-, low-, high-output and Dual Port PRO tray options for that platform. Those tray instructions do not apply to the 2150 or 2600A-Plus.

Full-rate one pass vs. half-rate two passes

EarthWay's current 2150 Rate Settings guide illustrates both a FULL Rate (one pass) pattern and a HALF Rate (two passes) cross-pattern. That diagram shows how to lay out the passes; it does not state a universal rule that every application above a particular lb/1,000 rate must use two passes.

Use the product and model instructions to choose the pass pattern. If you split an application into two directions, verify the delivered total with a measured test rather than assuming that simply halving a dial number always halves output.

EarthWay 2150 & 2600A-Plus published starting-setting chart

The current EarthWay 2150 Rate Settings guide and the published 2600A-Plus guidance use the same setting sequence for 1–10 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. These are starting settings, not guaranteed delivery rates: EarthWay notes that material characteristics, walking speed, and ground-surface roughness can require adjustment.

Source note: the 2150 values above are from EarthWay's current model-specific Rate Settings PDF; the same 1–10 lb sequence appears in the 2600A-Plus rate guidance. For rates between published rows, the finder shows the surrounding values instead of inventing an interpolated setting.

2150 spread width depends on particle size

The 2150 guide also publishes expected spread widths by material size. That matters for pass spacing: finer material has a narrower pattern than larger granules, even when the application rate is the same.

Material sizePublished spread width
Small / fine (sand-size)5–7 ft
Medium (about half-BB)7–9 ft
Large (about full-BB)9–12 ft
Fine grass seed5–7 ft
Coarse grass seed7–10 ft

Verify before treating the whole area

EarthWay states that the matrix is intended as a guide only. Physical characteristics of the material, walking speed, and ground-surface roughness can require a different setting. A practical check is to weigh the material before and after spreading a known area, calculate the actual pounds per 1,000 sq ft, and adjust as needed while keeping your walking speed consistent.

Gear notes

A digital scale↗ makes a weighed test application easier to check. If you're spreading behind a mower or ATV instead of walking, a tow-behind spreader↗ is the right tool — see the Agri-Fab page for ground-speed effects on towed units.

FAQ

Do the EarthWay 2150 and 2600A-Plus use interchangeable output trays?

No. Both use fixed three-hole drop/shut-off systems. FLEX-SELECT output trays belong to compatible F-Series models such as the F80, not the 2150 or 2600A-Plus.

What settings do the EarthWay 2150 and 2600A-Plus use?

For the current published 1–10 lbs per 1,000 sq ft matrix, both guides use settings 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, and 23. Use the finder above for those published rows and verify the result before treating the full area.

Do the 2150 and 2600A-Plus use the same rate-setting numbers?

For the current 1–10 lb/1,000 sq ft rate matrix, yes. EarthWay's current 2150 Rate Settings guide shows the same sequence as the 2600A-Plus guidance. Their model-specific operating instructions still matter, so use the correct manual for setup, Side Spread Control, and maintenance.

Why are two drop holes closed on my 2600A-Plus?

EarthWay says this can mean Side Spread Control is engaged. That feature narrows the spread pattern near a border; it is not a tray change.

How do I verify an EarthWay setting?

Treat the published setting as a starting point. Keep speed consistent, make a small measured test, compare the actual amount applied with the target rate, and adjust before treating the full area.

Important note

Settings vary by model, material, application rate, and speed. The current 2150 Rate Settings guide and the published 2600A-Plus guidance share the 1–10 lb/1,000 sq ft matrix shown here, but each model's own operating manual still takes priority for setup and use. Product labels and EarthWay's current model-specific documentation take priority over any starting setting shown here.
