Most common oz per gallon ratios: exact vs rounded
Mixing charts often pair round oz/gal values with nearby ratios. Under this page's concentrate:water (1:X) convention, those pairs are useful shorthand but are not always mathematically identical.
| Target oz/gal | Exact final-volume ratio | Nearby common ratio | Exact oz/gal at common ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz/gal | 1:127 | 1:128 | 0.992 oz/gal |
| 2 oz/gal | 1:63 | 1:64 | 1.969 oz/gal |
| 4 oz/gal | 1:31 | 1:32 | 3.879 oz/gal |
| 8 oz/gal | 1:15 | 1:16 | 7.529 oz/gal |
If a product label says 4 oz per final gallon, use 4 oz/gal. If it says 1:32, use the 1:32 ratio. Do not substitute a rounded nearby value for the label rate.
Always follow the product label. The chart provides dilution math; it does not choose a pesticide rate or approved use.

FAQ
What is the 2 oz per gallon mixing ratio?
For a 1-gallon final mix, 2 fl oz concentrate plus 126 fl oz water is exactly a 1:63 concentrate:water ratio. The nearby common ratio 1:64 produces 1.97 oz/gal, so it is close but not identical.
How many ounces per gallon is 1:32?
A 1:32 concentrate:water ratio equals 3.88 fl oz per final gallon (128 ÷ 33). It is commonly rounded to about 4 oz/gal, but 4 oz/gal exactly corresponds to 1:31.
What is the 8 oz per gallon ratio?
For a 1-gallon final mix, 8 fl oz concentrate plus 120 fl oz water is exactly a 1:15 ratio. The nearby 1:16 ratio produces 7.53 oz/gal, so it should not replace an exact 8 oz/gal label rate.
Can I print this mixing chart?
Yes! This page is designed to be print-friendly. Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P) to print the charts for quick reference in your garage, shed, or work area. All tables will print cleanly without ads or navigation elements.
What does a 1:32 spray mix ratio mean?
1:32 usually means 1 part concentrate to 32 parts water (concentrate:water). For a 1 gallon final mix, that’s about 3.88 fl oz per gallon.
Is 64:1 the same as 1:64?
Not always. 1:64 typically means concentrate:water. 64:1 often means water:concentrate (reverse order). Match your label wording.
Are these mixing chart values exact?
They’re rounded for quick reference. For exact values (and any ratio or tank size), use the Spray Mix Calculator.
Does oz/gal mean concentrate per gallon of water or per final gallon?
Many labels intend oz/gal as per final gallon of spray mix, but labels vary. Always follow the product label instructions.
